LAPIS is the sound practice led by Chleo Li.

My research begins with cross-sensory perception—how something looks, how it might feel to touch, the temperature of a colour. From there I work between contrast and merge: sometimes sound pushes against the image, sometimes it dissolves into it. I treat sound as spatial information—often the very thing that holds everything together.

I studied philosophy, not composition. My ear developed through spaces and materials rather than sheet music.

My sound practice began in Mexico City in 2016. After Berlin, New York, and London, I now work between London and China.
